RECs fall to lowest price in more than 2 years
02 Oct 2009
The level of uncertainty in the marketplace has made the price of RECs, and what will happen next, a very hot topic. The last days have proven to be no less uncertain.
Continued strong solar REC creation and a lack of buying support in the wholesale market has seen REC prices fall over $2.50 in the last week (and $1.50 of that drop happened in the last 24 hours). The wholesale REC price (parcel size of 5000 RECs) reached $33.50 – the lowest level since August 2007.
It is difficult to know what the low point will be for REC prices; we’re watching the market in anticipation. As usual we’ll keep clients updated on our buy-back price via our weekly price update. Stay tuned to the blog for any further market developments.
